Frequently asked questions.

What is Pole Fitness?

Pole dancing, or Pole Fitness, is a fun and physically demanding form of exercise that can make you fit and feel sexy at the same time. It is a beautifully progressive form of exercise that begins with moves that someone with no experience can quickly master; right up to demanding poses and combos that challenge even experienced dancers. So no matter which end of the spectrum you are on pole dance has something to offer you.

Do I need any previous dance or gymnastics experience?

No athleticism, dance background or flexibility is necessary to join the fun. All you need is a positive attitude and an open mind. If you've been searching for a workout that you'll actually look forward to, then Arete Pole Fitness has it.

Arete teaches a very fun, artistic & beautiful style of pole dance that will get you in shape, increase your endurance, tone your entire body, and bring out your inner goddess all in a one hour workout.

Anyone can do it, no matter what your age, size or fitness level. Whether you're wearing 6-inch heels or your frumpiest T-shirt. There's something for everyone to learn no matter what kind of shape you're in.

What should I wear?

Dress for a great workout. Shorts and a tank top are recommended for beginners. You will be working up a sweat, but also skin-to-pole contact is important for grip and stability in many moves and poses. For lyra and silks classes, we recommend leggings.

What should my first class be?

Our Beginner Pole class is what you want! Here you will learn the basics like stance and pole grip, as well as some beginner level moves that will serve as a foundation for what you'll learn later in our Level 1+ classes and Specialty classes.

Is there an age limit?

We will accept students from 18 to 80. Students as young as 16 may attend with signed permission from a parent or guardian, and students as young as 14 may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian, no exceptions.
